Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada

The Canadian Financial Transaction and Reporting Analysis Center (FINTRAC) is Canada's financial intelligence unit, established in 2000. It is an independent agency that reports to the Minister of Finance and is responsible to the Parliamentary Activity Center. Headquartered in Ottawa, it is mainly responsible for collecting, analyzing, evaluating and disclosing relevant information about the Canadian financial industry to protect Canadian financial stability and security. FINTRAC is a member of the Egmont Alliance (FIU), and its purpose is to strengthen cooperation and information exchange to support member countries’ anti-money laundering and terrorist financing systems.
