In tune with the new apps, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has launched a new feature on the MPLADS eSakshi portal, where citizens can directly request their MPs for projects.

To make it similar to modern apps, people can also rate and review ongoing and completed projects on the portal to give real-time feedback.

The Members of Parliament Local Area Development scheme provides Rs 5 crore yearly to MPs to develop their constituency.

The new eSakshi app was launched earlier this year so that MPs could track the entire cycle of funds, from disbursal to utilization.

The new feature of citizens requesting a project follows the ministry's release of revised liberal guidelines, under which MPs could carry out works in tune with the needs of their constituency.

The ministry has made several changes to the fund flow procedure. The amount is now disbursed directly to the minister at the start of the financial year instead of being divided into two installments of Rs 2.5 crore each.

MoSPI conducted a third-party evaluation of the scheme in 2021, based on which it revised the guidelines.
