Australian miner IGO said Thursday that it has been served with a writ by South32 which claims it is owed royalties tied to IGO's former stake in the Tropicana gold mine in Western Australia.

South32 has estimated it is owed royalties from IGO of roughly 122.1 million Australian dollars (US$80.2 million), exclusive of interest and costs. The claim is for the period from December 2014 until Sep. 30, 2023.

IGO said it rejects South32's allegations and considers the claim to be without merit.
