Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari has said the government will reduce the logistic costs to single digits by 2030.

India’s logistics performance has improved over the past decade, with the country moving up 15 ranks to 39 in 2023 in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI).

An analysis of the LPI data shows that the country has made the most gains on international shipments, with India now ranks at number 22 among 139 economies, against 44 a decade ago.

Logistic costs, however, remain a concern.

India would also need to address infrastructure-related inefficiencies to reduce costs and move up the rankings.
