The US Federal Reserve is set to announce its interest rate decision on July 31, with expectations pointing towards a hold. Wall Street Journal Fedwatcher Nick Timiraos suggests that the Fed may lay the groundwork for a potential rate cut in September without making any firm commitments.

This week will also be crucial for US stock earnings, particularly with reports from four of the ‘Magnificent 7’ tech giants: Microsoft, Meta, Apple, and Amazon. These earnings come at a critical time, with the Nasdaq 100 Index down 8% in just over two weeks, signaling a possible correction.
